Whites Spectrum XLT Metal Detector
A Review of White's Spectrum XLT
If you can find a used Spectrum XLT, you will be getting a great deal. It has a feature known as SignaGraph object identification, and it is an excellent way to determine what is iron and garbage and when you should dig.
If you sweep your detector many times over an object, columns on the screen will increase, and you can decide if you want to dig. This is an ideal system that combines the "art" and "science" of metal detecting.
White's Spectrum XLT Pinpointing
The VCO pinpointing is superior, even though how deep an object is can sometimes be off. However, I was not surprised at this since I search for many different sized objects. This really is not an issue. Overall, object identification is the most important aspect, and the XLT is awesome with this.
Battery Life
It holds 8 AA batteries for power in a solid casing and it is very well balanced. I use my detector on one of my shoulders at the s-curve in the stem. It is very stable there, and I barely have to touch it.
This model has excellent sensitivity toward tiny objects, which surprised me even more. A friend of mine from the United Kingdom, where coins are very small, says this sensitivity is vital.
Since it has many modes, you will have to read through the manual. Check out the various programs and user opinions on the Internet to decide which one is best for you.
The Spectrum XLT is easy to use and has an immense amount of power. By practicing some, you are going to learn to use its features and power to the fullest. This device is not meant for detecting on the beach.
Out of all the White's detectors I have tried, I can truly say this is the best. I am probably going to purchase another one in the event I can't find one later on. If you have been detecting for awhile, the XLT is a detector you should not be without.
This detector is far easier to master than a Minelab Explorer model.
