Whites Pro XL 6000 Metal Detector

For Good Discrimination, Choose Whites Pro XL 6000

The XL Pro by Whites has, unquestionably the greatest discrimination capabilities out there. Due to the fact that there are many alternate coils for this detector, hunters will be able to optimize their searches in almost any circumstance.

Hunters can also use these coils on the 6000, 5900, Classic III, XLT, IDX and QXT (you read about other White's metal detectors here), It is a disappointment that White's no longer makes this detector. I am very happy that I purchased one awhile ago because I would not want to hunt without it.

Pro XL's Response Time

I actually enjoy using my Pro XL model more than my XLT detector . There is one reason for this: The Pro XL has a much quicker response time due to its needle instead of digital numbers. I believe that the analog meter is more effective than the LCD on the XLT.

On the Pro XL, the turn knobs are easier to work with, which is a major benefit, and it detects objects that are very deep.

Drawbacks With White's Pro XL

One drawback I can see is the looseness of the knobs, which means they can occasionally be adjusted on their own as I detect. I fixed this issue by strapping rubber bands around them to keep them still. No matter if you are just starting out or if you've been detecting for awhile, this is an excellent model. I have discovered a lot of valuable objects with it.

Benefits of the Pro XL

It provides excellent identification, a sturdy meter, fast response time, and detects objects that are deep - if the detector is used correctly. I found dimes buried 9 inches deep, which is an excellent depth. The only aspect that is keeping me from giving this detector a 5 is that its knobs are very loose. I see that other people have had this issue as well.

I would like to get a rain cover for it; one has been designed for it (that I know of). In spite of those two complaints, White's Pro XL is very effective, and you aren't paying for a lot of unnecessary "advanced" features.
