Whites Matrix M6 Metal Detector
White's Matrix M6 is perfect for treasure hunting in sites littered with trash. I prefer the Tone ID so that I can listen to everything. Threshold nulls are something else I don't use at trashy sites so a silent search is just fine with me.
Matrix M6 - Powerful Tone ID
However, the thing I found most amazing about the M6 is its plethora of accessory coils in addition to a speedy recover speed, and tone ID, not to mention the Meter which is great for cherry picking and sorting through the mess.
I primarily use the 6"x10" DD Eclipse as my depth and coverage coil which has found me a wheat penny at 7". However, when it comes to the small coils I really prefer the 5" and 4.5"x7" EXcelerator's.
When using the M6's tone ID without discrimination, the small 5" is simply amazing. I have had some pretty nifty relic, coin, and jewelry finds including a mint 1866 2 cent coin which many detectors completely missed seeing as it was less than 2" in depth.
Even though it's hard to explain, avid trash hunters really should learn more about tone variance which is the M6's strength in addition to the excellent selection of small coils.
The M6 could be good as ones primary detector for hunting jewelry, coins, and even some relics however it's perfect for the trashy sites.
Conclusions on White's Matrix M6
Overall, I would give the M6 a 4.5 out of 5 because of its lack of threshold, manual ground balance, and all metal search mode however it's got an excellent GB circuit. This sums it up for me, hopefully others will come along to confirm or dispute my thoughts on White's Matrix M6.
