Whites DFX Metal Detector
A Field Test With Whites DFX Detector
Using a 3 kHz frequency for coins, White's DFX detected objects as deep as the ones detected by my minelab, but it was even steadier. I used a 10x14 inch DD coil with an added sunray probe. If you practice with this device and use the DC, you will be happy with this detector. I rate this detector highly due to superior pinpointing and stability. In addition, if you use the proper coil, you can find dimes buried in solid clay at 9" deep.
White's DFX Target ID
The Target ID on the DFX is as good as I have seen. The Signagraph identification capability makes it simple to tell what objects are before digging them up. I bought my DFX less than a month ago, and I was able to discover a gold ring!
There are two frequencies, one of which can be used for silver and one of which can be used for gold. This detector can be used in a variety of ways, which is different from any other model I've tried.
Not many detectors exist with the features of this model. It will take some time to master, but after you get the device set the way you want, it is awesome. In addition to a large number of coins and miscellaneous charms, I have also uncovered a lovely silver 1964 dime. The battery lasts for quite awhile as well.
Prior to my DFX, I owned a MXT by White's, but I am partial to the DFX due to all of its uses, its superior identification capabilities, its dual frequencies, and the fact that I can take it to the beach and get better results than I did previously. In addition, it makes a lot less noise than does the MXT. For those of you who want a detector with many features, you are going to love the DFX.
Issues With White's DFX
One drawback to the model was that the disc and block editing capabilities are difficult to understand. On the whole, this is a detector that is steady and deep. My suggestion is to purchase a manual authored by an actual hunter rather than using the user manual included with White' DFX.
