Tesoro Eldorado Metal Detector
The One Tone, But Great Tesoro Eldorado
The Tesoro Eldorado is a great contraption that is able to detect silver coins nestled up to 5" below ground. After using this device for roughly 20 hours, I figured I could learn its position while hovering over any silver objects.
Since that time, I have come to understand how crucial it is to keep a test garden to figure out your new metal detector's distinct behavioral configurations. The Tesoro Eldorado just provides a single tone while it hovers over an object, so it is important to get familiar with it to figure out what you will be unearthing.
One Tone and Poor Depth
I have to criticize the uno (one) tone and scanty depth range of 5". On the bright side, you will be able to use this device all day long without getting tired - I know I did.
As a rule, I look for sliver coins and jewelry. I am prone to the 3-piece pole since I am able to transport it in my backpack into the forest, and it is easy to tote around with you all day long.
Retune Speed
That is just another reason as to why I favor the 7" coil. It comes with a quick retune speed, which results in a somewhat tricky metal pinpoint. Its ground balance is pretty simple, and in the area of which I reside in, I have some difficulties with balancing it.
The device chooses great targets in trash, too, so long as I avoid moving the coil too quickly. Generally, I keep my detector's sensitivity dial open. However, there are some places where I am unable to, so I simply allow it to rest for a while until things relax more.
With its excellent tone response and strong warranty, you definitely get your money's worth. Its disc knob is clearly marked and quite exact on practically every target. The most troublesome trash articles I deal with at former hunting homesteads are mason jar lids, big iron pieces and such.
Tesoro Eldorado - Great for Parks
The screw caps ignite a louder noise than any coin (unless it happens to be quite shallow); however, by pulling the coil up by several inches from the ground, you are able to differentiate whether or not the target is too large to be a coin and avoid digging it up. This makes an excellent choice for park "clad hunting" where people are interested in moving along as quickly as possible to get the most for their short time there.
For instance, if I find a good hit and place my detector straight down to touch my vibra-probe on the turf to find that it is quite shallow, I will be able to recover it immediately.
Additionally, the modifiable threshold is an excellent trait that allows the raising and lowering of volume to prevent loud or exceptionally deep-toned signals.
Eldorado's Battery Life
A single 9v battery will last up to a couple of days while out detecting, and the battery test switch also proves to be quite resourceful.
I hope that my own personal experience with the Eldorado -- and other Tesoro detectors -- makes someone else's decision making process an easier one. As of today, I have made some pretty great discoveries with my own and plan on using it for many years to come!
