Minelab Quattro Metal Detector
The Minelab Quattro Is A Selective and Accurate Metal Detector
The Minelab Quattro gives hunters the ability to ignore many undesirable objects. For instance, a soda can tab could hit in a particular range. Using the Quattro, you are able to decide which soda can tabs you want to ignore and which ones you do not. This is beneficial if a coin hits in the same range as a soda can tab.
You will be able to ignore most of the soda can tabs, but you will still be able to identify the coin because you don't have to ignore all soda can tabs as you would with other machines. Other models have an expanded range for identification if you choose one particular object to ignore.
Moreover, many hunters are conditioned to set their machine's discrimination to ignore all objects that register under a particular range, or they "black out" all objects that register on the low part of the scale. The Quattro has the ability to do this as well; however you would not be able to detect rings and some other kinds of jewelry.
I am impressed with the feature that allows me to pick and choose what I want to ignore and what I don't. There would be no reason to ignore a lot of objects if you have the ability to select the objects individually.
The Quattro's Ease of Use
For the most part, this detector is very user-friendly. Simply remove it from its packaging, power it up, and begin hunting. This detector will hit on objects that are deep. For instance, I detected pennies buried at least 6 inches deep with the standard coil on my first two times out.
I am also impressed with its ease-of-use, high quality, and excellent capabilities. I only found one drawback to this detector and that is it should have a back-lit screen. The screen can be difficult to view if you are hunting at dusk.
The end result is for those of you considering this metal detector, you should get one. You will have to practice a bit to understand how it works, but you have to do this with all detectors.
However, while some detectorists say it is difficult to learn, I disagree. This model is not hard to use, and you will be able to adjust it as needed. You can use this model without any of the bells and whistles, but you also have the ability to pick and choose your modes as well. The Quattro MP is one my favorite Minelab metal detectors!
