Garrett GTI 1500 Metal Detector
Serious Metal Detecting Enthusiast...Consider a Garret GTI 1500
To me, the GTI 1500 metal detector's imagining feature sounded too good to be true. It was a smart concept, but could it function as promised? My first step was to put it to the test in the field, so I headed to a wooded park with lots of trash at which I've had some good finds before.
The location had yielded a multitude of pull tabs and screw caps. I've used the Fisher 1236x2, the Minelab X70, and the Tesoro Toltect II, and the best find I've managed was with the Fisher when I found two memorial coins. The high amount of garbage probably had a noticeable effect on my rate of success. Not even ten minutes had passed before the alert sounded on my Garrett GTI 1500.
Garrett's Imaging Feature Pays Off
Courtesy of the imaging feature, I discovered something at three inches roughly the size of a coin. The imaging was accurate, turning up a 1950 silver dime! Using the GTI 1500, I also located a memorial penny. This trash covered park had been a challenge in the past, but with this Garrett metal detector and its impressive imaging feature, I saved a lot of time and effort. It wasn't perfect and had a couple of false alarms, unavoidable at this point.
However, I feel spoiled by the imaging feature and cannot imagine hunting for metal treasures without it. While the imaging feature a highlight, the GTI 1500 also allows me to have consistent quality performance regardless of the speed at which I'm sweeping. The Garrett GTI 1500 also recovers very quickly, a wonderful characteristic.
Conclusion on the GTI 1500
Here in Arizona, very few objects lie beyond 6 inches deep and this detector seems to do well in that range, but I didn't get a chance to see how deep it could reach. Depth range has a number of important environmental factors, such as user experience and soil conditions, so take it with a grain of salt, but I have heard positive things about the GTI 1500's range. Finally, the GTI 1500 is just easy to use.
Few buyers consider their own personal needs and hunting style when they read detector reviews and go shopping for a metal detector. I purchased a Minelab Quattro in the past. It was incredible depth range, allowing me to find some very deep targets. I was frustrated, however, with the sluggish recovery and the inability to sweep quickly. The Quattro is a great detector, but it did not fit my style well while the Garrett GTI 1500 is a perfect fit for my needs.
