Find Hidden Treasure With A Bounty Hunter Metal Detector

Bounty Hunter has been in the business of selling metal detectors for many years. If you're a beginner and don't want to start out with a high-priced metal detector, then you can find just what you're looking for at Bounty Hunter.

They have detectors at affordable prices, but they are still high-quality products and they have a wide selection of models from which to choose. Their choices range from very basic models to the most advanced models with the latest technology.

We list the models that are the most popular, but if you don't see what you want here, just send us an email and we will be happy to add the detector in which you're interested to our inventory.

The Modest Cost (And Fun) of Bounty Hunter Metal Detectors

We've all seen them: hobbyists holding something resembling a weed eater and waving it inches above the ground or the beach in search of metal treasure. Surprisingly, these bounty hunter metal detectors are frequently successful.

Internet discussion groups are easy to find where people describe their exciting discoveries while using bounty hunter metal detectors . People have found lost wedding rings, Judas Priest rings from the 1980s, coins (of course), and a wide range of interesting items. Naturally, there is a fair amount of junk buried out there but the better bounty hunter metal detector will emit a different tone if it thinks it has detected something worthless.

Some will alert the bounty hunter to items several inches below the surface; other are able to detect items at greater depths. As with all products, you can pay as much as you would like for a bounty hunter metal detector . Perfectly good ones are available at around the $100 mark although it's possible to approach the $1,000 mark for some models once accessories are included. A very simple "starter" detector can be bought for about $40.

Towards the high end sits the Titan 2000 XD Pro Metal Detector. At a retail price of $559.95, the Titan 2000 comes equipped with every imaginable accessory, including wi-fi headphones (which hobbyists promise will stop people from bothering you) and a magazine subscription for bounty hunters.

But you don't have to go big bucks to get started on this interesting and often rewarding hobby. Many people, for example, have found the Bounty Hunter Tracker II Metal Detector, at a retail price of $129.95 perfectly capable of providing hours of rewarding bounty hunting.

Different metal detectors can be more effective for different purposes.

Pretty much any detector will do if the goal is simply to find coins and jewelry a short distance beneath the surface. Hobbyists more interested in finding older items - historical artifacts, perhaps - will need to invest in a machine that can detect items at greater depths. For this, though, the final cost could be in excess of $1,000.

The typical bounty hunter metal detector is a simple thing to operate, so technophobes need have no fear. It will come with a simple owner's manual that will explain assembly procedures and how to "tune" the device according what kind of bounty hunting you plan to conduct.

And, yes, there are underwater detectors. There is no reason to suppose that valuable items are lost only on land. Underwater detectors are specially designed for submersible hunting. Some work best in fresh water, some better in salt water. Some are designed to work well in either environment.

But whether on land or in water, whether seeking small coins or historical treasure, it does not have to cost much to join the increasing numbers of people who have found great satisfaction in unearthing little pieces of the past. Or perhaps in unearthing little pieces of treasure that can go a long way to covering the costs of the hobby itself.

Personal Experience With A Bounty Hunter Metal Detector

This year I reviewed several metal detectors between $250 and $350 , and I upgraded from the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV detector to their Pioneer 505. After deciding to get the 505, I found out they had some that were reduced because the boxes were damaged, and they were priced under $200!!! The only damage was that the boxes were slightly wrinkled.

I went back to a playground at a local park that I had searched thoroughly a few days before (or so I thought), and I found several one-cent coins, eight dimes, and five quarters that the Tracker IV hadn't located. The visual target ID and audio tone ID differentiate between copper and zinc pennies, so I don't have to dig for zinc coins that are buried deeply since they are usually corroded.

This detector easily detects silver (locating two silver charms and three rings in one week), and it eliminates iron and most pull tabs when it is in the Auto Notch mode, but nickels are harder to locate when using that mode. The Notch setting performs best when it is set for the exact item you want it to eliminate (as instructed on the DVD).

Depth and Sensitivity

Depth and Sensitivity work very well, and I have located several coins lower than ten inches and aluminum cans that were buried even deeper. I can get a better ID on an iffy object by changing from Auto Notch to Disc, but the Auto Notch is usually satisfactory. Sometimes the detector shows shallow items as deeper than they actually are. It's easy to ID items by sound once you become accustomed to the varied tones, but I still usually check the ID Meter and Depth just to verify. The DVD for the 505 will give you more information on this.

I don't use the All Metal setting very much, so the only thing I can tell you about that is that it will "PinPoint" when needed. I'll be testing the detector's gold capability soon when I visit a good gold strike area. On the whole, considering the features and the price tag, I give this metal detector the whole five stars.

In comparison to the Garret Ace 250, which has a complicated display, the Bounty Hunter is easier for beginners to use and it has better definition. As one more advantage, Garret offers only a two-year warranty while Bounty Hunter offers a full five years.
