Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector
The Tracker IV Metal Detector by Bounty Hunter
My initial impression of the Tracker IV when I picked up the box was that it didn't weigh very much. I even wondered if the box might be empty. This detector weighs that little.
I performed a few tests in a variety of locations prior to developing my opinion.
In my backyard: I performed several tests with several items made of metal. In my backyard, I was able to locate a few relics made of iron and a coin dated 1997, but no gold. This model finds coins at approximately 6" deep. I am fairly certain that this detector missed some objects, but I will go over the yard again later using a more expensive model.
On the beach: I visited a non-public beach to hunt with my detector. I was very impressed with how it performed here. Since it is not heavy and it has a decent tone identification method, I was able to detect for a long time and didn't have to pay much attention to the display.
Overall: the Tracker IV is ideal for someone who is just starting out due to what you get for the price. If the Ace250 and the Tracker IV were identically priced, I probably would choose the Ace250.
However, because the Tracker IV is cheaper, I decided to buy it now, and purchase a better model later, which will probably be made by Tesoro. Right this minute, though, I am happy that I bought the Tracker IV. For those of you who are detecting novices and are looking for a decent, affordable metal detector to start your hobby, you should buy this particular model. If your interest in hunting holds, you can always purchase an upgraded device at a later point in time.
Tracker IV Positives:
This metal detector does not weigh a lot (especially compared to other Bounty Hunter detectors), it offers dual tones for identification and a separate tone to identify soda can tabs, the batteries last a long time, and it's user-friendly.
Tracker IV Negatives:
The module is too big (I wish it were smaller to fit better in a case), it's ineffective in places with a lot of junk, and it does not pinpoint.
It is essential to get a cover for the coil to make sure you do not damage it.
I recommend hunting with headphones because it really helps. In addition, doing this will make for simplified pinpointing.
